FLAGSTAFF, Ariz., Aug. 21 -- The Havasupai Tribal Council has requested assistance to deal with the recent flooding that wiped out trails and campgrounds and damaged some homes. The tribe needs financial and technical help, as well as supplies.
The Sunday morning flood spared Supai Village where approximately 450 of the 650-member Havasupai Tribe live in the bottom of the Grand Canyon, but damaged the infrastructure of the tribe's tourism business.
